‘Disgusting’ and ‘desperate’: Amber Heard’s sister reacts to Johnny Depp VMA cameo

Amber Heard’s sister reacted to the actress’s ex-husband, Johnny Depp, making a virtual appearance at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday night, calling the channel both “disgusting” and “desperate” on social media.

Whitney Heard responded to Depp’s inclusion with a story on Instagram, writing, “@MTV you’re disgusting and clearly desperate! I really hope that none of the people that made this call have daughters.”

Depp appeared virtually as the award show’s famous moon man, floating above the stage. He joked with the audience that he is available to entertain at various events, such as birthdays. “I just want you guys to know I’m available for birthdays, bat mitzvahs, weddings, wakes — any old thing you need,” he said.

“And you know what? I needed the work,” he further told the crowd.

Since the jury decided in his favor after his spring defamation trial against Amber Heard, the actor has wasted no time getting back to work. He has been working on a French film based on an affair of King Louis XV, sold original artwork, released an album with guitarist Jeff Beck, renewed his Dior Sauvage campaign, and is now embarking on directing a film about Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, which is being co-produced by Al Pacino.

Depp seems to have largely won back the favor of both the creative industries and the general public.

Anber Heard, who was found liable for three claims defaming her ex-husband and ordered to pay him $10.35 million, has been working to appeal the ruling. The actress recently dropped her lead counsel, Elaine Bredehoft, in favor of a pair of attorneys who recently defended the New York Times successfully against a defamation claim by Sarah Palin.
