Twitter has announced it will release its new policy to handle hate groups, violent imagery, and symbols of hate in November after receiving feedback from users.
“We will now launch our policies on violent groups and hateful imagery and hate symbols on Nov. 22,” Twitter Safety announced in a tweet Friday. “During the development process, we received valuable feedback that we’re implementing before these are published and enforced.”
Over the past few months, the social media platform has received backlash from users for a lack of action on controversial accounts such as the one belonging to white supremacist Richard Spencer.
In response, Twitter has explained that policy changes take a while to go into effect because company leaders want to be “thoughtful and deliberate.”
