D.C. office building heavily damaged by fire

An office building in the Capitol Hill neighborhood sustained heavy damage when a fire spread through several floors early Saturday morning.

The blaze broke out at about 4:15 a.m. at Motir Services, a contract support services company located at 1508 East Capitol Street NE, according to D.C. fire and emergency services.

Firefighters found heavy flames on multiple levels of the four-story building, fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said. About 75 firefighters battled the blaze, which took about 40 minutes to extinguish.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation

Authorities said losses were still being calculated, but could total in the millions of dollars.
