Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, interviewed with investigators Monday regarding the ongoing probe into alleged abuse at Ohio State University, according to two sources who confirmed the meeting.
Jordan met with investigators in Ohio on Monday morning and reiterated the forceful denials he has given to the media since the allegations emerged on July 3.
“Congressman Jordan told the investigators the same thing he’s told you folks in the interview since the story broke,” Ian Fury, a Jordan spokesman, said. “He never saw any abuse, never heard of any abuse, and never had any abuse reported to him.”
The investigation into the allegations is being handled by Perkins Cole LLP.
According to eight former wrestlers at the school, Jordan had knowledge of abuse by Dr. Richard Strauss, but turned a blind eye. He has maintained throughout that he did nothing wrong and would have acted if he had known about alleged misdeeds.
The Ohio Republican has also been backed by 15 wrestlers from his tenure (1986-1994) as assistant coach for the program, along with six coaches. He has also received the support of House GOP leadership in the face of the allegations.
