RNC: Trump won ‘by being the candidate of true change’

The Republican National Committee insisted Donald Trump won the first presidential debate, adding Hillary Cinton tanked in her attempt to make a case for herself.

While the general consensus among U.S. voters was that the Democrat beat the Republican, the RNC insisted its nominee won based on what he brings to the table, not necessarily what he said during the 90-minute debate.

“While Donald Trump won tonight’s debate by being the candidate of true change in Washington, Hillary Clinton spent the night championing a broken system which has let the American people down time and again,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement.

Clinton has earned her reputation as “dishonest and untrustworthy” by refusing to be transparent with the American people throughout her three decades in Washington, Priebus added. That record was a point she nailed down on throughout the debate instead of explaining away personal attacks by Trump.

The former secretary of state evaded questions about her flip-flops on TPP, misleading about an uptick in crime, or refusing to answer for her multiple botched foreign policy decisions.

Despite defending Trump, the RNC did not celebrate the nominee’s talking points or how well he performed.
