New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he is confident that he can maintain the highest office in his state while under a cloud of controversy and multiple investigations, including two inquiries into allegations of sexual misconduct.
The Democrat reasoned that governors are equipped to handle “multiple situations” at once, alluding to the Trump administration as a “distraction” that he had to navigate.
“The nature of being governor, always, is multiple situations to deal with,” Cuomo said during a COVID-19 press briefing on Wednesday. “I had to deal with Trump as president. Talk about distractions — that was a distraction.”
Cuomo, 63, has been accused of sexual harassment by at least eight women, many of whom are former aides to the governor. Those allegations are now under investigation by New York Attorney General Letitia James. There is also an impeachment investigation being conducted by the New York State Assembly.

Cuomo said he is cooperating with investigators.
The governor apologized for making anyone feel uncomfortable, but he said he never touched anyone inappropriately.
A number of lawmakers at the state and federal level, including several Democrats, have called for Cuomo to resign amid the allegations, but the governor has maintained that he will not step down from his post.
