Police are searching for a man who robbed a Capital One bank in Alexandria.
The man robbed the Capital One branch at 500 S. Washington St. around 9:45 a.m. Oct. 20. Police said the suspect entered the bank, implied he had a weapon and demanded money. The bank teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. The suspect then fled the area on foot, though police said there might have been a vehicle involved.
No one was injured in the incident.
The suspect is described as a black male who is about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a red jacket, light colored pants and a gray knit hat.
Police obtained photos of the suspect captured on a video surveillance camera and said they are working on getting the video up on the web.
This robbery is not believed linked to the robbery of a Virginia Commerce Bank at 1414 Prince St. on Oct. 8. In that incident, a man with a silver handgun got an unknown amount of cash from a teller.
Anyone who has information about the robbery is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703-838-4444 or the Crime Solvers tip line at 703-838-4858. Witnesses can remain anonymous.
