FBI Director James Comey says he’ll serve a full 10-year term

FBI Director James Comey says not to expect him to be leaving his job anytime soon, signaling Wednesday that he intends to serve the entirety of his 10-year term, which began in 2013.

“You’re stuck with me for another six and a half years,” Comey, told an audience at the beginning of a speech to a cybersecurity conference in Boston.

The speech in Boston comes one day after Comey dropped out of SXSW, an annual music, media and film event in Austin, Texas, due to “scheduling conflicts.”

Comey has repeatedly been a catalyst of controversy over the past few months.

Several news outlets have reported over the past few days that Comey asked the Justice Department to publicly refute the president’s allegations that former President Barack Obama of wire-tapping Trump Tower during the election.

Comey also made headlines near the end of last year when he made the decision to reopen an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s unauthorized private email server just weeks before the 2016 presidential election.
