Los Angeles Times mocked for glowing coverage of Kamala Harris: Kim Jong Un would be ‘jealous’

The Los Angeles Times took heat on social media for what critics saw as excessively glowing coverage of Vice President Kamala Harris.

“It’d be nice if the media gave Biden and Harris a few weeks to settle into power before beating them up this way. Sheesh,” joked journalist Glenn Greenwald on Twitter. “I mean, I’m as in favor of an adversarial press as the next person, but there are limits or decency and respect.”

Greenwald was responding to the Los Angeles Times’s announcement that it was launching a project called “Covering Kamala Harris,” which the publication described as a “a beat dedicated to her historic rise to the White House.”

“Introducing Covering Kamala Harris, the Los Angeles Times’ new section about all aspects of Harris’ career — her political significance, her sometimes shifting political stances and her efforts to build a foreign policy resume,” the outlet announced.

“Kamala Harris is the first vice president who is Black, South Asian, female and the direct descendants of immigrants,” the publication tweeted with its announcement.

The paper also announced a new Instagram account dedicated to coverage of Harris, filled with pictures and quotes from the new vice president.

“Kamala Harris is all kinds of firsts: the first woman, woman of color, Black woman, mixed-race woman and South Asian elected to national office. And then of course there are her California roots,” the first Instagram post was captioned.

Greenwald wasn’t the only user to notice the seemingly glowing profile of Harris, with multiple users mocking the Los Angeles Times for its coverage.

“Journalists in North Korea are going to be executed when Kim Jong-Un becomes jealous of the glowing coverage the American media has given to Biden and Harris in the last week,” quipped conservative commentator Greg Price.

The Los Angeles Times did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
