Police Identify Afghan-Born Ahmad Khan Rahami As NYC Bomber

Police are searching for a 28-year-old Afghan-born New Jersey resident they believe is behind a bombing this weekend in New York and possibly another in Jew Jersey. Here’s the report from the Associated Press:

The NYPD tweeted Monday morning that authorities were seeking Ahmad Khan Rahami. He is a naturalized citizen from Afghanistan. Bill de Blasio says he could be armed and dangerous. An explosion in Manhattan on Saturday injured 29 people. Gov. Andrew Cuomo had said earlier that it didn’t appear to be linked to international terrorism. A pressure cooker device was also found blocks away, but it didn’t explode. Authorities were trying to determine if they were connected.

The bombings in New York and New Jersey weren’t the only acts of apparent terrorism in the United States over the weekend. Nine people were stabbed at a mall in Minnesota Saturday before the suspect was shot and killed by police. A 22-year-old Somali-born college student named Dahir Adan has been identified as the attacker, and the terrorist group the Islamic State has taken credit for inspiring the attack.
