A part time high school coach accused of having sex with and prostituting a 15-year-old girl was held without bond Friday after the judge heard testimony that the coach also sold marijuana and videotaped her having sex with two men.
Arron Jahimal Burroughs, 35, will remain in the D.C. Jail on charges of with first-degree child sex abuse. A sealed warrant has been placed in Superior Court in connection with the arrest. Sources toldThe Examiner the warrant was used to search the home of a law enforcement official.
D.C. police Det. Sgt. Morani Hines testified in a preliminary hearing that Burroughs last summer took the girl, then 14, to Stanton, Va., and Charles County, Md., where she was forced to have sex with his friends.
Burroughs used a video camera to record her having sex in a hotel, according to one of the men in the video, Morani said. Burroughs also had the girl work on a known prostitution area on Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast D.C., police said.
Burroughs, of Crofton, was a volunteer assistant junior varsity coach at Bowie High School and a Metro bus driver.
Burroughs admitted that he had been having sex with the girl, police said. He also admitted to police that he sold marijuana, and on Thursday police searched his Ranger Rover and found what appeared to be two ounces of marijuana behind a stereo speaker, a small scale and plastic baggies, Morani said.
The girl told police she was a prostitute and Burroughs was her “pimp” after Takoma Park police found her engaged in oral sex with a man in a car, police said. The man who was caught with the girl in the vehicle has not been charged and is still under investigation, Takoma Park police said Friday.
