The Father’s Day countdown — are you ready?

It may be no Mother’s Day brunch rush, but Dads like to eat too. The Washington-based National Restaurant Association is predicting a majority of Father’s Day diners will choose Dad’s favorite restaurant to mark the occasion ande dinner will be the most popular meal time.

According to the association’s survey, 67 percent of Father’s Day diners say they will go out to a restaurant for dinner on June 19. Meanwhile, 24 percent will go out for lunch, 10 percent for brunch and 11 percent for breakfast. In addition, 10 percent of Father’s Day diners plan to go out for more than one meal at a restaurant.

The association projects 50 million adults will dine out this Sunday. Like we said — it’s no Mother’s Day where 75 million were expected to dine out, but dads have other traditional Father’s Day traditions like father-son golf outings. (Incidentially, a Google search for “D.C. restaurants Father’s Day” prompted the question “Did you mean D.C. restaurants Mother’s Day?” from the search engine. We need to start coming up with more creative outings for Mother’s Day.)

For those who haven’t made reservations yet, there’s a plethora of specials going on in the region from trading in a tie for a free appetizer at Anne’s Steakhouse in Frederick to a $29.95 Pre Fixe Brunch at Agora in Dupont Circle.
