Mother advocacy group plans Disney protest over stance on parental rights bill

A motherhood advocacy group will travel to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday to protest the company’s stance against the state’s recent bill enacted to protect parent’s rights in their children’s education and “to signal to the Walt Disney Corporation that its liberal agenda is not acceptable or safe to mothers and families across the country.”

In a press release Tuesday, President of Moms For America Kimberly Fletcher said, “Disney has severely violated the trust of parents and customers across the country.”

“That is why Moms For America will be hosting a rally at Disney World this weekend to speak out against its radical, sexual politics with young children. Furthermore, we will be proudly continuing our support for Governor Ron DeSantis for his efforts to protect the American child.”

The rally will feature multiple Disney employees “who do not support Disney’s radical agenda,” according to the group.

In a recent op-ed for Townhall, Fletcher warned Disney of the path of “wokeness,” saying that “it would be wise for Disney to learn from the sports industry and realize American consumers don’t want agendas shoved down their throats, they just want to enjoy a good game and have fun at a park.”

“Everything that used to support us as parents are now going against us,” she added.

In March, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the controversial Parental Rights in Education Act into law. Critics have labeled the measure the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. The bill prevents sexual or gender identity instruction in kindergarten through third grade.

Disney tweeted a statement after its signing, saying, “Florida’s HB 1557, also known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law. Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that. We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country.”
