Joy Behar asks Tulsi Gabbard why David Duke likes her

Co-host of ABC’s The View, Joy Behar, asked Rep. Tulsi Gabbard why former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, David Duke, wanted her to be president.

“It’s interesting because some prominent figures on the Right, the extreme Right, are praising you. They like you. David Duke, the Klans guy, he likes you,” Behar said to Gabbard during a Monday interview on the program.

“He also likes Ilhan Omar,” the Hawaiian Democrat responded.

“Does he?” Behar said. “Why does he like you?”

“First off, we shouldn’t give David Duke any oxygen at all,” Gabbard said before pivoting to talking about how many people across the political spectrum support her campaign.

In February, Duke announced he was supporting Gabbard in the 2020 run for president.

“Tulsi Gabbard is currently the only Presidential candidate who doesn’t want to send White children off to die for Israel,” Duke said in a tweet supporting the congresswoman.

“I have strongly denounced David Duke’s hateful views and his so-called ‘support’ multiple times in the past, and reject his support,” she said in a statement. “Publicizing Duke’s so-called ‘endorsement’ is meant to distract from my message: that I will end regime-change wars, work to end the new cold war and take us away from the precipice of a nuclear war, which is a greater danger now than ever before.”

Gabbard is polling at 1% in her run in the Democratic presidential primary according to RealClearPolitics.
