Trump admits some of his retweets are ‘sort of’ a problem

President Trump does not regret any of the thousands of tweets he has sent in his lifetime, but concedes that his retweets are “a bigger problem.”

C-SPAN interviewed the president Tuesday and asked him if he ever regretted sending a particular tweet. Trump considered the question and shrugged.

“Honestly, not much,” Trump said. “I sent the one about the wiretapping, and that turned out to be true. Remember the big deal that was?”

On March 4, 2017, Trump accused former President Barack Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower to spy on his 2016 campaign. Attorney General William Barr backed up Trump’s accusation in April, saying that “spying did occur,” whether it occurred with or without justification.

“I guess you could say a lot of the times the bigger problem is the retweets. You know, a lot of the times, you’ll retweet something that sounds good, but it turned out to be from a player that’s not the best player in the world. That sort of causes a problem,” Trump continued.

Trump went on to praise Twitter as an “incredible form of communication” that allows him to effectively combat “fake news,” particularly from CNN.

Twitter suspended a conspiracy-peddling account Tuesday after Trump retweeted a meme from it.
