Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz slammed President Joe Biden for appearing to reveal Monday that U.S. troops are training Ukrainians in Poland.
Cruz, making an appearance on Fox News, said such information would “surely” be classified, even as he conceded he did not know if there was any truth to the statement.
“It may be that he’s explaining secrets on national television,” Cruz said. “Every time he explains one thing, it gets worse and worse and worse, and we’ve got nuclear weapons pointed at each other. It is incredibly dangerous, this kind of presidential weakness.”

Cruz’s comment is in reference to a question Biden answered Monday about his meeting with the 82nd Airborne Division in Poland, seeming to reveal that the United States is going beyond providing billions of dollars in lethal aid to Ukraine as it tries to fight off Russia’s invasion.
“We’re talking about helping train the Ukrainian troops that are in Poland,” Biden told reporters Monday.
When asked to clarify his statement again, Biden said, “I was referring to being with, and talking with, the Ukrainian troops that are in Poland.”

The White House has denied “currently” providing training to Ukrainian troops during Russia’s monthlong invasion while noting that the U.S. does have troops defending NATO territory.
“There are Ukrainian soldiers in Poland interacting on a regular basis with U.S. troops, and that’s what the president was referring to,” a White House official told Politico.
