Code Pink protesters interrupted former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta’s remarks at a Hudson Institute event Monday by yelling for peace in Saudi Arabia.
Panetta was asked a question by the moderator at an event on violent extremism, but before he could respond, a group of men and women began standing in the audience and screaming at the Obama-era Cabinet official.
Protesters raised pink “stop Saudi terror” posters. Code Pink is a left-leaning women’s organization that opposes U.S.-created wars.

Security officers removed each person from the venue, but others stood up and continued protesting Panetta.
The moderator repeatedly remarked, “Wow, oh my gosh, wow,” as the incident unfolded. She also laughed nervously.
By the time the chaos ended, Panetta said, “Welcome to a congressional hearing.”
