Trump tells illegal immigrants: ‘Do not make yourselves too comfortable’

President Trump said Friday all illegal immigrants would be removed from the U.S. “at a later date,” a day after he unveiled his immigration plan.

“All people that are illegally coming into the United States now will be removed from our Country at a later date as we build up our removal forces and as the laws are changed,” Trump tweeted.

“Please do not make yourselves too comfortable, you will be leaving soon!” he said.

He did not give more specifics.

Trump’s new proposal prioritizes “merit-based” immigration and would require immigrants to learn English and pass a civics exam before being admitted to the U.S.

The president also said many “bad hombres” are being detained at the U.S.-Mexico border and will be removed from the country amid a surge in migrants at the southern border.

Trump has long promised to build a border wall and crack down on undocumented immigrants coming to the U.S. For some of his critics, he is not moving fast enough on his campaign promises.

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter has increasingly expressed her frustration of the president publicly for his failure to build a wall when Republicans held control of the House and Senate during his first two years in the White House.

Trump has blamed Democrats for obstructing his agenda but appeared slightly optimistic Friday.

“Will the Democrats give our Country a badly needed immigration win before the election? Good chance!” he tweeted.
