Man shot multiple times in Silver Spring A man is in stable condition after a shooting early Sunday morning in the White Oak area of Silver Spring, according to Montgomery County police.

The call reporting shots fired came in just after 6:00 a.m. Sunday, from the 11400 block of December Way. Witnesses reported hearing shouting before the gunshots and the sound of a car speeding away soon afterward, police said.

The victim was described as a 31-year-old male. He was shot multiple times and has been through surgery. He is now listed in stable condition.

Rally for Bradley Manning leads to arrests

About 30 people were arrested Sunday outside of a Virginia Marine Corps base in Triangle, Va., during a rally where hundreds protested the treatment of Pfc. Bradley Manning, according to the Associated Press.

Manning, imprisoned for the suspected release of classified material to the WikiLeaks Web site, has been held in solitary confinement at Quantico. He is confined to his cell for all but one hour of the day and is required to strip naked before bed.

Protestors refused to leave an intersection outside of the base, leading to the arrests.

Montgomery police suspect foul play in death of elderly man

An 81-year-old man was found dead inside of his Olney home on Saturday evening, and Montgomery County police said the circumstances suggest foul play.

Police were called to the 19500 block of Olney Mill Road where resident Nazir Ahmed was pronounced dead.
