Sanders: Trump’s lying, I don’t ‘hate’ Clinton

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., says that he does not “hate” Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, despite what Donald Trump says.

“He has read my mind, what a man, what a genius,” the 2016 Democratic presidential hopeful mockingly said Thursday night. “The answer is, of course, you know, Trump is lying as he always does. No, I do not hate Secretary Clinton.”

Sanders, who has yet to bow out of the 2016 race even as the primaries ended with Clinton securing the number of delegates necessary to capture the nomination, was responding to a question from MSNBC’S Chris Hayes. Trump, the presumed Republican presidential nominee, said earlier this week at a rally in Bangor, Maine, that Sanders “hates” Clinton and “cannot stand her.”

“I’ve known her for 25 years. I have a lot of respect for her. We’ve worked together,” Sanders explained about his Democratic presidential primary rival.

Though, he said, that they have “disagreements on issues,” saying that he hates her is “absolutely untrue.”

Also in the interview, Sanders threw cold water on the idea that he is planning on announcing his endorsement of Clinton, saying he’s “not quite there yet.”

“Right now my hope is that we can reach an agreement on some very important issues and I can go forward to the millions of people who supported me and say, ‘Look, this is the progress that you’ve made. This is where we’re gonna go as a country,'” Sanders explained. “So, I hope it happens. As of this moment, we’re not there quite yet.”
