Fundraising totals in competitive California races

Candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives must submit their quarterly campaign fundraising reports to the Federal Election Commission by midnight Wednesday, covering activity from July 1 through Sept. 30.

Details from some of the state’s most competitive races in which reports were filed by Wednesday afternoon:

Congressional District 21: Republican Rep. David Valadao reports raising $546,000 in the quarter and still had $1.1 million in the bank. Democratic challenger Amanda Renteria raised nearly $400,000 in the quarter and had about $433,000 in the bank.

Congressional District 26: Democratic Rep. Julia Brownley is reporting that she raised more than $730,000 in the most recent quarter and had close to $900,000 in the bank. Republican challenger Jeff Gorell raised more than $400,000 in the quarter and had about $338,000 in the bank.

Congressional District 36: Democratic Rep. Raul Ruiz raised $615,000 in the latest quarter and had $1.6 million in the bank. Republican challenger Brian Nestande, raised $242,000 and had about $135,000 in the bank.

Congressional District 52: Democratic Rep. Scott Peters is reporting his campaign raised $908,000 and has $808,000 in the bank. Republican challenger Carl DeMaio’s campaign raised nearly $689,000 and has about $782,000 in the bank.
