Cuccinelli to campaign for Alabama, Iowa AG candidates

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell has been in high demand as a fundraiser for out-of-state Republican candidates — and his attorney general will be joining the party next week.

Two out-of-state attorneys general have tapped Cuccinelli, who is fast emerging as a household name among national conservatives, to appear at campaign events during a trip Oct. 4-5.

Cuccinelli is set to speak at events for Luther Strange of Alabama and Brenna Findley of Iowa, both candidates for attorneys general.

Taxpayers will not foot the bill for the visits, according to a release from Cuccinelli’s political operation.

“It couldn’t be more critical at this juncture in our nation’s history to elect more leaders like Luther Strange and Brenna Findley who are committed to preserving the constitutional rights of their citizens, as well as the traditional role of states in our system of checks and balances, against incursions by the federal government,” Cuccinelli said.  “The people of Virginia will also benefit to the extent we further strengthen the nationwide firewall against federal overreach.  I am honored to have been invited to participate in their campaigns.”
