Report: Trump has received only two intel briefings since Nov. 8

President-elect Trump has received only two classified briefings since winning the election on Nov. 8, according to a report Wednesday by the Washington Post.

The briefings on foreign affairs and national security threats are prepared daily by intelligence analysts, but Trump turned down many of them down, according to unnamed U.S. officials. Meanwhile Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, they said, has participated in the briefings on an almost daily basis.

Some officials are worried that because of the small number of briefings he’s attended, Trump may not be as well-informed of world events as an incoming commander in chief should be.

But not everyone is convinced this is a problem. Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, who is a part of Trump’s transition team, suggested that the president-elect has committed an appropriate amount of time and attention to matters of security, and that not everything he can learn comes from a briefing.

“National security is Donald Trump’s No. 1 priority and I think he’s taking it very seriously,” Nunes told the Post. “Look how many leaders he’s met with, how many phone calls he’s done, positions he’s filled. People who are being critical need to get a life.”
