The Democratic National Committee will begin airing ads against Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney in swing states, including Virginia, a strong sign the former Massachusetts governor is considered the most likely to be the man facing President Obama in next year’s election.
The ad piles on Romney’s reputation as a flip-flopper and coincides with a 4-minute web video and new website at MittvMitt.com that juxtapose footage of Romney taking alternating stances on various issues. The 30-second spot focuses on Romney’s well-publicized change of positions on abortion and Obama’s health care overhaul.
The DNC will air the ad in TV markets in six battleground states, including New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Washington, D.C., which includes Northern Virginia. The ad campaign will be followed by a media blitz in 11 states. All those areas are up for grabs in the 2012 election cycle.
The full-length video alleges Romney flipped positions on Democrats’ stimulus package, the Reagan administration, immigration, global warming, an Ohio anti-union bill, Grover Norquist’s tax pledge, gun control, and the bank and auto-manufacturer bailouts.
