President Trump said Thursday the media is making up sources and stories that are critical of his administration, but are still more effective than Democrats.
“FAKE NEWS media, which makes up stories and ‘sources,’ is far more effective than the discredited Democrats – but they are fading fast!” Trump tweeted.
Yet earlier in the morning, Trump didn’t seem to think the media was making up sources as he was tweeting that “low-life leakers” were going to be investigated and caught. Trump has been chastising people in the intelligence community for leaking information to the media for the last few days after retired Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn resigned as his national security adviser.
Flynn was brought down by news reports showing he had not been completely truthful with administration officials over his conversations with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Press secretary Sean Spicer said this week Flynn resigned because the trust between him and Trump was broken.
Trump has been locked in a war with the media, referring to the “fake media” on Wednesday during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. His administration, primarily chief strategist Steve Bannon, refers to the media as the “opposition party.” Also Wednesday, despite the fact that Trump asked for Flynn’s resignation, he faulted the media for treating Flynn poorly.
Trump took another shot at the Democrats later, saying reports of Russia interfering in the election were created to cover up their failure to elect Hillary Clinton.
The Democrats had to come up with a story as to why they lost the election, and so badly (306), so they made up a story – RUSSIA. Fake news!
