Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said the recent FBI raid and arrest of Catholic father and anti-abortion activist Mark Houck is another example of corruption within President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice.
“It’s just a continuation of this political nature,” Jordan told the Daily Signal. “Labeling everyone an extremist to satisfy the Biden narrative. And the latest victim, of course, is this family who gets the door kicked in with agents’ guns drawn, for a guy that local courts and police had said there was no real case there at all.”

The activist pleaded not guilty to two counts of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act Tuesday in a Philadelphia federal court.

The activist was arrested Friday on federal assault allegations stemming from an incident last year involving a hostile abortion rights activist.
Houck’s wife, Ryan-Marie, told LifeSiteNews that her husband and their son were on the sidewalk outside a Philadelphia abortion clinic when the abortion rights activist began threatening their son and Houck pushed the man away.
“He stepped between them and asked him to stop,” said Brian Middleton, a spokesman for the Houck family. “The man continued to lean in and verbally abuse [and so] Mark extended his arms to get the assailant away from his son.”
The man reportedly tried to sue Houck, but the case was thrown out by a district court in Philadelphia.
Houck’s wife has also noted that her husband’s arrest took place around 7 a.m. Friday morning as 25-30 agents entered their home with “big, huge rifles” drawn, causing their children to scream and cry.
“Time after time, we see this where they’re so aggressive in going after these ‘extremist domestic violence’ cases all over the country,” Jordan said. “And that’s how they view people who are pro-life.”
“It makes no sense,” the congressman said. “But this is also consistent with what our most recent whistleblower has told us, that they are using some heavy-handed tactics, whether or not warranted, on people that they’re going out to investigate.”

Other Republican lawmakers have also spoken out against Houck’s arrest. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) called the raid “a blatant partisan abuse of power.” Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) said the “FBI has abandoned professionalism and is out of control.”
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) wrote a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland Monday, saying the reports of Houck’s arrest were shocking, and if true, “you have a lot to answer for.”
