D.C. residents longing for green acres need look no farther than Fort Totten.
Neighborhood Farm Initiative, an organic educational urban vegetable farm near the Fort Totten Metro station, will host a Field Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The event will feature compost Q&A and a volunteer workday, followed by a harvest potluck and a garden scavenger hunt.
The farm also offers summer-long classes for first-time gardeners and the Green Summer Youth Program, which trains teens in green job skills and urban agriculture.
