D.C. Attorney General Peter Nickles has given five days to the owner of several group homes to pay more than $240,000 or the city will seize the group homes.
David Wilmot, who owns Individual Development Inc., agreed to pay the city the $241,089 as part of a settlement over problems at the group homes for the mentally disabled for which he has a contract with the city to run. The cash, however, has been slow to come.
Nickles initially said Wilmot had until 3 p.m. Friday to fork over the payment or he’d take over six of the homes. Friday evening, Nickles sent Wilmot a second letter saying the payment had not yet been received, but then gave Wilmot five days to make the payment before the home would be seized.
