Kimberly Guilfoyle the latest Trump loyalist to join president’s super PAC

The super PAC aligned with President Trump has tapped departed Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle for a senior advisory role.

In a press release, America First Action announced that Guilfoyle, romantically involved with Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, would serve as vice chairwoman, and “assist” with fundraising, communications and grassroots outreach. Guilfoyle, long-time co-host of “The Five,” also is expected to be a prominent face of the group on television.

“I am grateful for this new and exciting opportunity to connect with the millions of grassroots supporters who believe in this administration,” Guilfoyle said in a statement issued by the super PAC, the sister organization of America First Policies, the political nonprofit set up last year to push Trump’s legislative agenda.

Guilfoyle becomes the latest Trump loyalist to sign on with America First Action, which reported raising $5 million in the second quarter, to close the period with $11.3 million in cash on hand. Last year, the group brought aboard as advisers Corey Lewandowski, who managed the president’s campaign until being fired in June of 2016; former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, a top surrogate; and Katrina Pierson, a 2016 campaign spokeswoman.

Clarke remains, but Lewandowski has since transitioned to Vice President Mike Pence’s political action committee, with Pierson re-joining the Trump campaign in preparation for 2020. They have been replaced as senior counselors by former White House press secretary Sean Spicer — and Guilfoyle. Trump Jr. also is involved with American First Action, but holds no formal role with the super PAC.

Guilfolyle characterized her exit from Fox News as voluntary, saying in a Tuesday morning tweet: “I’ve decided to leave Fox News Channel and dedicate myself full time to joining America First as Vice Chairwoman, campaigning across the country and firmly standing with President Trump.”

However, Huffington Post reported that Fox News pushed Guilfoyle out and is sticking to the story despite her threats of legal action.

Guilfoyle is a former public prosecutor in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and transitioned to television as a legal analyst before taking on a more expansive role with Fox News. She was previously considered for a communications role in the Trump White House.
