Coronavirus becomes leading cause of death in Los Angeles County

The coronavirus has eclipsed heart disease as the leading cause of death in Los Angeles County, California.

Nationwide, 50,372 people have succumbed to COVID-19.

California has one of the most restrictive coronavirus policies in the nation. Residents must stay at home unless they are going out to get food, caring for a relative or friend, or going to an essential job.

Some localities that have seen their daily cases of the coronavirus drop, such as San Luis Obispo County, are pressing Gov. Gavin Newsom to lift some of the restrictions. Thus far, Newsom has resisted.
