Michael Moore: GOP officials’ ‘job’ to support misogyny and sexism

Filmmaker Michael Moore thinks Donald Trump is the mouthpiece for the misogynist and sexist thoughts Republicans have but won’t say.

Amid the fallout stemming from a leaked video revealed Friday in which Trump in 2005 can be heard saying lewd things about seducing women, Moore tweeted Saturday that Republicans who are now renouncing their support for the GOP nominee are hypocrites.

“Ha! Hypocrite Republican officials jumping off Trump ship. Their job has been to legalize misogyny & sexism. Trump just verbalized it,” Moore tweeted.

In a follow-up message, Moore seemed to mock Republican lawmakers for being surprised by the latest Trump reveal, when the candidate’s campaign has been defined by controversy since nearly the day he announced his candidacy.

“These Repub Congressmen are shocked – SHOCKED! – at Trump’s comments. Really? Where were they on Day 1 when he called Mexicans ‘rapists’?” Moore said.

Moore, who had endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders and is now backing Hillary Clinton for president, has long been a critic of Trump. He has also attacked the Republican Party in the past, saying in April that it has “died.”
