WATCH: Trump hints at 2024 White House bid at ‘Save America’ rally in Texas

Former President Donald Trump promised an enthusiastic crowd in Conroe, Texas, that together, they would “take back the White House.”

Speaking at his second “Save America” rally of 2022, Trump did not announce that he is running for president in 2024, but he took on a defiant tone of reprieve from Democratic leadership and asked his supporters to “get ready to work” and “get ready to win like never before.”

“This is the year we’re going to take back the House,” Trump said. “We’re going to take back the Senate. We’re going to take back America. And in 2024, we are going to take back that beautiful, beautiful house that happens to be white, that is so magnificent and that we all love. We are going to take back the White House.”

Trump promised a fight for more jobs, more fair trade, and more American-made products.

He said if he decides to run and if he wins, those currently detained in connection to the Jan. 6 riot will be treated fairly and could be pardoned.

“We will treat those people from Jan. 6 fairly,” Trump stated. “We will treat them fairly. And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons, because they are being treated so unfairly. This hasn’t happened to all of the other atrocities that took place recently. Nothing like this has happened. What that ‘unselect’ committee is doing and what the people are doing that are running those prisons, it’s a disgrace. It’s a disgrace. We will treat them fairly, and we will take care of the people of this country. All of the people of this country.”

As Trump wrapped up his speech, his tone and word choice mirrored that of his 2016 presidential campaign.

“We want to talk about greatness for our country because we are one movement, one people, one family, and one glorious nation under God,” Trump said as the crowd clapped and cheered. “And together, we will make America powerful again. We will make America wealthy again. We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. We will make America united again. And we will make America great again.”

Trump’s speech comes on the heels of a jobless claims report from the Labor Department suggesting that layoffs have risen in recent weeks but that the number of new applications for unemployment benefits fell slightly from 290,000 to 260,000. The report also followed a worse-than-expected December jobs report.

Last week, President Joe Biden touted his economic policies as the Bureau of Economic Analysis announced that the economy grew at an annualized rate of 5.7% in 2021, the fastest growth since 1984. Much of 2021’s economic growth, however, occurred naturally, as businesses nationwide began to operate at pre-pandemic levels.

The country’s soaring inflation is also being closely examined. A report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicated that consumer prices grew 7% in the year ending in December, the fastest pace since 1982.
