McConnell: Senate will hold more votes on anti-abortion legislation

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says the Senate may vote on legislation blocking taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and limiting late-term abortion.

The Kentucky Republican told EWTN’s “Pro-Life Weekly” that he may call up the legislation before the end of this Congress.

“We probably will have an opportunity again to vote on some kind of legislation related to Planned Parenthood,” McConnell told the show.

The Senate in January tried to pass a bill ending taxpayer funding of abortion, which Planned Parenthood performs.

Democrats blocked the measure.

Democrats also blocked the “Born Alive” legislation in February. McConnell told EWTN, “We may vote again” on that measure.

McConnell has moved this year to force Democrats, particularly a slate of senators running for president, to go on the record about liberal policies including abortion and green energy.
