10-year-old goes viral begging school board to end mask mandate: The rules aren’t fair, ‘don’t make sense to me’

A 10-year-old boy went viral this week after speaking out in opposition to a continued face mask requirement in his Florida school district.

“Wearing the masks all day makes me really tired,” the young boy, who identified himself as a fourth grader and was referred to as John, said to an emergency school board meeting in Martin County, Florida, last week. “Sometimes, I miss school and have to lay down in the dark till they’re gone,” the boy said, adding that the masks can be sweaty, claustrophobic, and anxiety-inducing.
