Man arrested for allegedly molesting daughter

An Annapolis man was arrested for allegedly molesting his daughter, and Anne Arundel County Social Services is investigating her mother, Annapolis police said.

The girl, 15, was overheard at school Tuesday telling a friend that her father molested her when she was in the eighth grade, and a student reported the incident to school administrators, said Hal Dalton, police spokesman.

The father, 41, was arrested Tuesday evening and could face up to 60 years in prison if convicted of third-degree sex offense, sex abuse of a minor, child abuse and peeping Tom charges, police said.

The Examiner is withholding the suspect?s name to protect the girl?s identity.

The girl told police her father had molested her several times over that past year and would “appear in his underwear” and ask her to sit next to him, according to charging documents.

She told police she was afraid her father would impregnate her, according to charging documents.

The girl said her father also repeatedly stood outside the family?s house and looked in the bathroom window while she was showering, according to charging documents.

Police said the girl had told her mother about the abuse, and “the mother seemed to think that she had adequately addressed the issue by having her daughter lock her bedroom door and ensuring that she was no longer left alone in the home with her father,” Dalton said.

No charges have been filed against the mother at this time, he said.

“That may happen down the road,” he added.

The father is being held at the Anne Arundel Detention Center in lieu of a $175,000 bail.
