A large magnitude 7.7 earthquake hit in the ocean between Jamaica and Cuba.
The temblor struck about 72 miles northwest of Lucea, Jamaica, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake had a relatively shallow depth of about six miles.
Shaking could be felt in both Jamaica and Cuba, though it is unclear if there are any reports of damage or casualties. Though initially saying there was not threat of a tsunami, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said that there could be waves of up to three feet.
