Anne Arundel County rescue crews responded to five serious collisions ? including a fatal one ? in the span of several hours Saturday.
An unidentified person died in a two-car collision before 5 p.m. Saturday at Polling House and Solomon?s Island roads in Harwood, authorities said. Two other people, a 20-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy, had serious injuries and were taken to separate hospitals.
The nature of the collision was not known by fire officials.
Minutes later, two cars collided at the Interstate 695-Route 295 interchange, trapping one of the victims inside the vehicle. A 34-year-old man was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries. The cause of the collision was unknown.
At about 5:40 p.m., two children and one adult were hospitalized with serious injuries after a two-car collision at Fort Smallwood and Cottage Grove roads, officials said.
At 7:55 p.m., a 37-year-old man was seriously injured in a collision on Davidsonville Road near Route 50.
Later Saturday evening, a 28-year-old female was seriously injured in a collision at Jacobs and Still Meadow roads in Severn. Two children suffered minor injuries in that incident, according to county officials.
