Rand Paul calls on Republicans to boycott Coca-Cola: ‘Only thing that will teach them a lesson’

Sen. Rand Paul called on Republicans to boycott Coca-Cola after the company slammed Georgia’s new election integrity law.

“If they want to boycott us, why don’t we boycott them?” Paul asked on Fox News Monday. “This is the only thing that will teach them a lesson. If Coca-Cola wants to only operate in Democrat states and have only Democrats drink Coca-Cola, God love ’em. We’ll see how well they do when half the country quits drinking Coca-Cola.”

Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey slammed Georgia’s law (which requires an ID to apply for an absentee ballot, limits the number of absentee ballot drop boxes, and revises times for advance voting, among other changes) as “unacceptable.” Coca-Cola is headquartered in Atlanta.

“Let me be crystal clear and unequivocal: This legislation is unacceptable, it is a step backward, and it does not promote principles we have stood for in Georgia around broad access to voting, around voter convenience, about ensuring election integrity. And this is, frankly, just a step backward,” Quincey said on CNBC.

‘WOKE-A-COLA’: COKE FACING BLOWBACK FOR RESISTANCE TO GEORGIA VOTING LAW

Former President Donald Trump also called for a boycott of Coca-Cola and other corporations that slammed the law in recent days.

“For years the Radical Left Democrats have played dirty by boycotting products when anything from that company is done or stated in any way that offends them,” he wrote in a statement on Saturday. “Now they are going big time with WOKE CANCEL CULTURE and our sacred elections. It is finally time for Republicans and Conservatives to fight back — we have more people than they do — by far! Boycott Major League Baseball, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, JPMorgan Chase, ViacomCBS, Citigroup, Cisco, UPS, and Merck. Don’t go back to their products until they relent.”

Eight Republican Georgia lawmakers also called on the president of the Georgia Beverage Association to stop serving any Coca-Cola products to their offices.

“Given Coke’s choice to cave to the pressure of an out of control cancel culture, we respectfully request all Coca-Cola Company products to be removed from our office suite immediately,” they wrote in the letter. “Should Coke chose to read the bill, share its true intentions and accept their role in the dissemination of mistruths, we would welcome a conversation to rebuild a working relationship.”

Democrats, meanwhile, have criticized the election law and other similar proposals, including President Joe Biden.

“It’s an atrocity,” Biden told reporters last month. “If you want any indication that it has nothing to do with fairness, nothing to do with decency, they passed a law saying you can’t provide water to people standing in line while they’re waiting to vote. You don’t need anything else to know that this is nothing but punitive, designed to keep people from voting. You can’t provide water for people about to vote. Give me a break.”
