Man with $140M worth of meth crashes into cop car

A man in Australia was allegedly busted with over 600 pounds of crystal meth after he crashed his van into a parked police car outside of a Sydney police station.

Simon Tu, 26, was seen on surveillance footage crashing into the front of a squad car while driving his Toyota HiAce at a high rate of speed. The impact also damaged a police van parked nearby.

Tu was pulled over and arrested a short time later, and police on the scene investigated his van after they observed him behaving suspiciously, according to reports. The search yielded a large number of boxes packed with 602 pounds of crystal meth, estimated to be worth over $140 million in street value.

Local police reveled in their good fortune at having such a large drug bust come to their front door. Detective Chief Inspector Glyn Baker said, “This would be one of the easiest drug busts the New South Wales Police has ever made — incredible, absolutely incredible … Crashing into police vehicles with that amount of drugs on board is somewhat unheard of.”

Baker added that the suspect “has had a very, very bad day.”

Tu was charged with reckless driving, supplying a commercial amount of drugs, and failing to provide details to police. His bail was withheld.
