Rep. Chris Collins, R-N.Y., argued Tuesday that Washington should “move on” from Mike Flynn’s resignation Monday night, and find a replacement to deal with the national security issues facing the U.S.
“We move on from here. I’m not gonna be one, nor would I hope others would dwell on the situation, or pile on,” Collins said on CNN. “Let’s move on, we’ve got a lot of issues to deal with,” he added.

Democrats, however, seem unlikely to move on from Flynn’s departure, and are likely to continue demanding information about what Flynn said to Russian officials in late December about possible sanctions relief, before President Trump was sworn in. The Justice Department warned president Trump that Flynn’s discussion may have violated the law.

Flynn initially denied that he had any discussions of substance with Russia, but admitted late Monday that he “inadvertently” didn’t fully explain his discussions to Vice President Mike Pence.
CNN host Chris Cuomo pressed Collins on whether further investigation is needed into Flynn’s actions, but Collins’ reply indicated he thinks no further steps are required. Collins also said he thinks Flynn was acting on his own, without instructions from Trump or his team.
“I don’t believe anyone knew what Gen. Flynn was doing, or directed him to do something relative to the discussion with the Russian ambassador,” he said. “I believe that was Gen. Flynn’s decision to have the conversation he had.”
“To be honest, I just live in a world where I always move forward,” Collins added. “In a busy world, you don’t dwell in the past. At this point in time, Gen. Flynn has decided to resign.”
