
A fox was captured Tuesday afternoon after multiple reports of an animal biting people on the Capitol grounds.
Photos of the fox being caged were posted to social media after reports of encounters at the Botanic Garden and another on the House side of the Capitol near the building foundation. One member of Congress, Rep. Ami Bera of California, told Punchbowl News he was bit Monday night in an “unprovoked” attack.

He described attack, which occurred near Russell building, as “unprovoked”
“I didn’t see it and all of a sudden I felt something lunge at the back of my leg,” Bera said.
“I jumped and got my umbrella,” he continues

“This morning, USCP received a call about a fox approaching staff near First and C Street,” a Fox News congressional correspondent wrote on social media. “This fox may have a den in the mulch bed area on First and C near the Dirksen Building, and there is another possible den near the perimeter of the Russell Building.”

Animal control arrived on the grounds by 12:50 p.m. to trap and relocate any foxes it finds, the Capitol Police said.

Foxes are “very protective of their dens and territory,” the agency warned, asking people not to approach the animals.
