RNC enjoys record fundraising haul in March and first quarter

The Republican National Committee raked in nearly $18 million in March, part of a record-breaking first quarter that raised almost $45 million as the party focuses on the 2022 midterm elections.

Despite former President Donald Trump’s defeat at the hands of President Joe Biden in November and the loss of the Senate majority after embarrassing defeats in pair of Georgia runoff elections in January, the Republican Party raised money at a robust clip during the first three months of the year. Even the ransacking of the Capitol on Jan. 6 by grassroots Trump supporters failed to deter GOP fundraising, which collected a combined $44.4 million in the quarter.

RNC MARTYRS TRUMP TO RAISE MONEY FROM SMALL DONORS

“We look forward to repaying our supporters’ investment when we retake the House and Senate in 2022 and make Joe Biden’s presidency an unremarkable footnote when we beat him in 2024,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement.

The RNC relied primarily on Trump’s name and image to stoke small-dollar online giving in January, February, and March, when the committee collected $17.8 million, its best month of nonelection year fundraising ever. That followed a $10.4 million haul in February, with the balance of the $44.4 million flowing in the month prior. The RNC has grassroots conservatives to thank for the largess.

According to an RNC press release, 84% of donations to the party in March were provided by grassroots contributors who gave in small amounts. Their generosity led to the party’s most lucrative digital fundraising performance in history for a nonelection year, with twice as many online donations received as in 2019, leading to 160% more in dollars received to spend on political activities in approaching elections.
