Authorities rounded up seven more men Tuesday as part of an investigation into a drug organization that police said tried to establish itself in the D.C. area from Mexico.
The new arrests come nearly two months after the federal wiretap investigation led to the seizure of $1 million worth of cocaine, more than a half-million in cash, and four guns in a 15-month-long undercover operation.
Arrested Tuesday were Sean De Angelo Crawford, 31, of Washington, D.C., Shawn Antony Lucas, 39, of Upper Marlboro, Roscoe Edd Minns, 32, of Laurel, Joseph Tolbert III, of Laurel. The names of the three other men were not released Tuesday. All the men are due in court Wednesday.
In April, authorities watched as the suspects brought a suitcase of cocaine into a storage locker in Maryland and began breaking down kilo quanities into smaller portions. When the men left, the FBI agents obtained an emergency warrant to search the storage unit and seized 30 kilograms of cocaine and firearms, court documents said.
Law enforcement officials watched the next morning as the men returned and found an empty storage unit with more than $1 million in contraband missing.
