Joe Biden: Trump’s remarks ‘not lewd. It’s sexual assault’

Vice President Joe Biden added his voice Saturday to a chorus of other politicians condemning Donald Trump for lewd remarks he made about seducing women in a 2005 video that surfaced Friday.

“The words are demeaning. Such behavior is an abuse of power. It’s not lewd. It’s sexual assault,” Biden tweeted. He signed off on the message with, “–Joe,” indicating that the message from his official Twitter account was written by himself.

Biden has worked for years on the issue of campus sexual assault, including the White House’s “It’s On Us” initiative.

Politicians on both sides of the aisle have largely excoriated Trump for his vulgar comments made to “Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush, and picked up by a hot mic, in a 2005 video the Washington Post published Friday.

Several Republicans who had previously endorsed or backed Trump’s candidacy have rescinded their support for the GOP nominee following the video’s release.
