Carroll is celebrating the American tradition of collecting maple sap and boiling it down to rich maple syrup at its 21st Annual Maple Sugarin? Festival.
The event will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 4 at the Hashawha Environmental Center off Route 97.
Costumed participants will perform chores of the early 1800s in a living-history area that features a log cabin.
Tree tapping, sap boiling, open hearth cooking and woodworking in preparation for a barn raising are among the demonstrations. The event also will include live music, tractor wagon rides and children?s crafts and games.
A $3 pancake breakfast with real maple syrup will be available all day in addition to maple pit beef sandwiches, hot dogs, fries, chicken strips, hand-dipped vanilla ice cream topped with maple syrup, and other food items.
