Trump Fed pick Stephen Moore was held in contempt for failing to pay ex-wife over $300K

Economist Stephen Moore, President Trump’s pick for the Federal Reserve governor, failed to pay his ex-wife over $300,000 in child support, alimony, and debt payments.

In November 2012, Moore was found in contempt of court and reprimanded by the judge for failing to his ex-wife the payments, resulting in the judge ordering the selling of his house to pay his debts, according to Virginia court records obtained by The Guardian.

Moore’s wife Allison Moore filed for divorce in 2010 in which she described “emotional and psychological abuse” by Moore.

Trump’s pick for the Federal Reserve has been a controversial one, as concerns have been raised about whether Moore will live up to the Fed’s impartiality. Last fall, he co-authored a book with Arthur Laffer titled Trumponomics in which he defended Trump’s economic vision for the country.

Trump has been criticized for picking Moore for the job as some economists say he is not up to the task of helping administer the Federal Reserve.
