“Access Hollywood” is defending the credibility of President Trump’s infamous “Access Hollywood” tape, amid reports that Trump doubts the authenticity of the tape.
“We wanted to clear something up that has been reported across the media landscape,” host Natalie Morales said Monday on a broadcast.
“Let us make this perfectly clear — the tape is very real,” she said. “Remember his excuse at the time was ‘locker-room talk.’ He said every one of those words.”
Trump told a senator and an adviser the “Access Hollywood” tape, which includes remarks from Trump about grabbing women by their genitalia without their consent, may not be real, according to a report from the New York Times.
The tape was recorded in 2005 and was released during the 2016 campaign, just weeks before the election. After it was released, Trump admitted it was him and apologized for the remarks, which he described as “locker-room talk.”
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders would not say if Trump believes the tape is authentic on Monday.
“The president addressed this, this was litigated and certainly answered during the election by the overwhelming support for the president and the fact he’s sitting here in the Oval Office today,” Sanders said.
