Caldor Fire nearly 50% contained as new wildfires emerge in California

More than a dozen new fires ignited Monday near Sonoma County, California, as firefighters worked to contain nearly 50% of the Caldor Fire that threatened South Lake Tahoe and forced many to evacuate the region last week.

Evacuation orders were lifted in South Lake Tahoe on Sunday as workers contained 49% of the flames after they scorched more than 216,000 acres, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
