Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), has been released from Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital less than a week after he was assaulted during a home break-in.
Paul Pelosi, 82, underwent surgery to repair his skull after he was allegedly struck in the head with a hammer by David DePape, 42, early Friday morning but has now been released, as reported by CNN. He also had injuries to his hand and arm.

Nancy Pelosi said in a statement Thursday that her husband “remains under doctors’ care” as he continues his “long recovery process.”
“The Pelosi family is thankful for the beautiful outpouring of love, support and prayers from around the world. Paul is grateful to the 911 operator, emergency responders, trauma care team, ICU staff, and the entire ZSFGH medical staff for their excellent and compassionate life-saving treatment he received after the violent assault in our home. Paul remains under doctors’ care as he continues to progress on a long recovery process and convalescence. He is now home surrounded by his family who request privacy,” the speaker said.

DePape pleaded not guilty to a slew of state charges filed against him for the early morning break-in at the Pelosi residence, where he allegedly said he was on a “suicide mission” to find the House speaker, who was in Washington, D.C., at the time of the intrusion. DePape, who is also facing federal charges, was ordered held without bail.
The Department of Homeland Security told the Washington Post in an emailed statement on Wednesday that DePape is an illegal immigrant from Canada. He faces possible deportation after federal and state criminal cases are resolved.
