Police have arrested a Maryland woman for trying to kill a pregnant woman at her Montgomery County home.
Christine Devaux, 38, of Monrovia, Frederick County, is in custody for the Friday afternoon attack on an unidentified woman who Montgomery County police say is 9 months pregnant. Police say the expectant mother was released from an area hospital and is recovering from her injuries.
Police would not discuss the motive in the alleged attack but said it was likely that the two women knew each other.
Media reports identified Devaux as a scientist who worked at at Gaithersburg’s National Institute of Standards and Technology. NIST spokesman Ben Stein said only that a woman of the same name worked at the agency from 1997 to 2004.
Devaux, who was arrested Friday night at a Frederick motel, faces murder, assault, burglary, false imprisonment and weapons charges.
